Posted by: Debra Andrews

There are a number of studies available on the Internet that uncovers the thoughts, opportunities and challenges facing family businesses. The Greater Washington DC Family Business Alliance will be continuously seeking information, case studies and examples to assist family businesses. Our next few blog entries will cover some of the studies we found to be the most insightful.

PricewaterhouseCoopers produced a survey at the end of 2007 regarding family businesses; the survey link follows:

Some main points of this survey are:
“The feedback from the companies we surveyed makes it clear that the leaders of family businesses are focused on the future.”

  • Most respondents wanted to “ensure the sustainability of their companies.”
  • “Several wish to see the business continue in the family.”
  • Some respondents were “focused on growth and profitability as the legacy they want to achieve.”
  • They have a “desire to maintain good relationships with family members, customers and employees.”
